Day in the Life of an Interior Designer: Behind the Scenes at Fabiana Isaac Design Studio
Every day as an interior designer is different, and that's one of the things I love most about what I do. Some days, I’m diving into creative brainstorming, while other days are filled with logistics and coordination. But no matter the day, my goal is always the same: to bring my clients’ visions to life in a way that feels authentic, functional, and beautiful.
My day usually starts early with a cup of coffee and a quick review of emails. Communication is key in my work, so I make sure to stay on top of everything—whether it’s responding to client inquiries, coordinating with contractors, or checking in on a project’s progress. I spend time reviewing plans, designs, and any new developments on active projects, making sure everything is running smoothly.
Next comes the creative work. This is my favorite part of the day, where I can really dive into the design process. Whether I’m sketching out ideas, selecting materials, or creating mood boards, this is where the vision for a space starts to take shape. I collaborate closely with clients during this phase, bouncing ideas back and forth and making adjustments based on their feedback.
I also spend a good portion of my day out in the field. Site visits are a regular part of the job, especially when we’re in the middle of construction or installation. I meet with contractors, check progress, and ensure that the design is being executed as planned. There’s always something to oversee—whether it’s inspecting a paint job, ensuring measurements are accurate, or troubleshooting any issues that pop up along the way.
By the afternoon, I’m usually knee-deep in the technical side of things. This means working on design documents, coordinating with suppliers, and making sure every last detail is accounted for. These moments might not seem as glamorous as the creative side, but they’re just as essential to making sure a project is successful.
At the end of the day, I love being able to look back and see how each piece of the puzzle is coming together. No two projects are ever the same, and each day brings new challenges and excitement. But that’s what keeps me inspired—the chance to create something unique for every client, every time.
