Tabarka tile in the Rue Des Rosiers pattern, inspired by the Jewish Quarter in Paris, was selected for this kitchen to reflect the clients' Moroccan heritage and love of the city. The renovation of the 1920s bungalow in Oakland’s Crocker Highlands expanded the original, small kitchen by incorporating space from the living room, creating room for a breakfast nook. A side window was replaced with a large glass door and deck to enhance natural light and ventilation. High-end appliances, including a Sub-Zero fridge, Bluestar six-burner range, and Visual Comfort pendants, were installed. Art by local artist Ellie Hajdu completed the sapphire blue design.
